FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Status of CAA

November 1, 2008 – CAA has been a source of news in the Catonsville community over the past two months.  The CAA Board of Directors has worked to respond to recent developments in a very deliberate manner.  With Mr. Nic's recent diagnosis of cancer, our first concern is ministering to Mr. Nic and his family after all of the years they have invested in the program.  To that end we have established a link on our website where you can contribute directly to the added expenses being incurred by the Nicodemus family and bless them in a tangible way.

The board also wants to communicate to the CAA Family and supporters that the ministry is continuing operation and that the future of CAA is solid.  At this time the board is able to share the following details of our ongoing plans:

Fields for Outdoor Sports - CAA has secured the guaranteed use of three fields for the Spring Baseball/Softball season.  Two fields will be available at Trinity and one field will be available at Christian Temple.  We are also working leads on other fields in the area that may be available for our use.  In all, CAA may have up to six ball fields available for our use in the Spring.  We are always open to suggestions regarding field possibilities.

Open for Business - CAA is continuing to operate as usual.  While recent events introduce some new changes and complexities to general operations, CAA is able to continue the vision and mission that distinguishes our impact in the community.

Increased Need for Volunteers - Recent changes have increased the need for more volunteer support for tasks and responsibilities that keep CAA running on all cylinders.  The board is asking everyone to prayerfully consider how they can fill in and support the ministry.  Mr. Nic is not currently able to perform all the tasks that keeps CAA working.  The board is indentifying the work that needs to be done and ministry needs will be posted to the web site with instructions on how to fill the need.

Increased Financial Need – While we have worked hard to manage overall costs and keep registration fees as low as possible, the changes in our plan add unexpected expenses.  We ask that you prayerfully consider how you can support CAA and help us keep registration fees as low as we can.  Checks can be mailed to the CAA office (best option) or you can contribute online by credit card (we pay a small transaction fee) by clicking the Donate tab above.

Building Project - CAA is pressing forward with plans to build the CAA Gymnasium dedicated to the indoor sports program.  Substantial progress has been made in the preparation stages over the past four months and we will be able to make a more complete announcement  shortly.  News about the project will be posted on the CAA web site as we are able to release the information.  We will need to substantially increase our giving to the Capital Campaign as we prepare to take the next steps.

Please forward any questions or offer to volunteer to Sandi McQuaid by phone or email to sandi@caayouthsports.org.  Currently, Sandi will work to help coordinate the volunteer and supporting efforts.  Sandi continues to be invaluable in running the day-to-day operations, but we do not want to overburden her.

CAA will continue to communicate to the CAA families primarily through the web site.  We will work to improve sections of the site and add services as we are able.  Please visit the site frequently for updates, volunteer needs, and financial needs.

Serving In Christ,

The CAA Board of Directors
